Susan Crandall and Whistling Past the Graveyard are mentioned along Chuck Klosterman’s latest, I Wear the Black Hat in a Chicago Tribune article entitled “There is evil in the world … and good!”
Article author Liz Smith says of Whistling Past the Graveyard:
“I just closed a new book by the prolific Susan Crandall (she has written nine novels!) It is titled “Whistling Past the Graveyard” and is the latest pride and joy of its publishers — again, Simon and Schuster. This is a work of imagination in the mind of a 9-year-old child that might remind you of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” or Kathryn Stockett’s “The Help.”
It’s a real winner!”
Not too shabby! The entire article is an interesting read, as Smith weaves events from Whistling, I Wear the Black Hat and 30 Rock to tell tales of good and evil from her own life. It’s worth a look if you’ve got the time.
Susan Crandall in Chicago
We’d be remiss to mention the Tribune and leve out Susan’s upcoming visit to the Book Cellar in Chicago on September 27, 2013. She will be doing a reading and a signing in her old stomping grounds (she lived in Chicago for seven years almost a lifetime ago)! Event details can be found on the 9-27-2013 Book Cellar event page here at SusanCrandall.net.
